Vila Nova Gaia

Vila Nova Gaia is a city in the north of Portugal, across the river from Porto.

It is a beautiful place that reflects some of the best Portugal has to offer. From the beach to the stunning riverside, the city is booming during the summer. The mix between the new and the traditional is visible every day, for example when 10 meters from the Marina, we see the old women washing the clothes in the public sinks at Afurada.

The city of Porto is often portraited in the river banks of Gaia, and a stop at the local pubs for a snack (petiscos) and a beer (cerveja) is mandatory for both local and visitors. After dinner, the summer heat also invites for an last drink and there are certainly lots of places for it.

This is my wife's home city, and we visit it at least once a year.

Guildford Sunset

These are some of the photos I took while walking my dogs in a greenfield surrounding Guildford. The area is called Liddington Hall and it served us well during the time we lived there. We could let the dogs run freely, and the views, especially the sunsets, were really mesmerising.

Guildford Castle

Guildford Castle is located in Guildford, Surrey, England.

It is thought to have been built shortly after the 1066 invasion of England by William the Conqueror.

The castle was mainly used as a royal residence but it was also a fortress and did play a part in warfare although the Castle itself was never attacked.

The following photos were part of a visit from my wife's family during the summer.
